dos monedas un solo valor              two sides same coin
una vida doble visión                        life experience times two
English the muscle                              El inglés la fuerza
pumping thoughts into my mind     llenando mis pensamientos
always seeking to find                          buscando aquello que
that which makes me one of a kind  me distingue de los demás
El español sangre de mis venas          Spanish lifeblood veins
brotando en cada sentimiento            quenching my soul thirst
sembrandole esperanza al corazón    with desires of the heart
English the knowledge                       El inglés el Conocimiento
reshaping my thoughts                      transforma pensamientos
lifeless void symphony harmony caos armonía belleza sinfonía
Español es Sabiduría                          Spanish is Wisdom
experiencia de años compartida      Ancient shared experience
futuras generaciones impartidas     future generations imparted
lecciones de la vida                             valuable life lessons

Mind and Spirit                            Mente y Espíritu
were finally united                 +    finalmente unidos
together in one land                      juntos en una tierra
to form a single body                   formaran un solo cuerpo

Amantes finalmente reunidos
Lovers finally reunited
después de siglos de búsqueda
after centuries of searching
han dado a luz un Nuevo Mundo
have given birth to a New World
donde cohabitan rascacielos y campos
where skyscrapers and farms are side by side
el rap y el merengue
rap and merengue
el hot dog y el taco
hot dogs and tacos
la lista continúa hasta borrar las distinciones
the list goes on until all differences are erased
Hola, how are you doing? Well, gracias.
Well, look at the hora
is time for the lunche
!Ya es hora de almorzar!
¿Qué dijiste amigo? What did you say?

Everyone will ask this question.
Todos se harán esta pregunta.
So let’s all work together to reconcile our differences
Así que todos trabajemos para reconciliar nuestras diferencias

Since marriage is for life

Manuel A. Luna-Murray is a Lancaster poet who has lived several years in Puerto Rico and has spent many years immersed in the battlefield of the chessboard.
