Dear Granny

Dear Granny
by Manuel A. Luna-Murray

Dear granny, dear granny
Blessed little angel

Blossoming rose of Spring
Shinning morning star

None compare to you my beloved little granny
Childhood memory
masterful symphony sound

Sustenance and Refuge
Love and tenderness

Cleaner and Cook
Mother and Counselor

Buyer and Saver
of unforgettable memories

Prayer warrior
earnestly wrestling
on her children’s behalf

Thoughtful loving-kindness
despite her many sufferings

Blessed is her name
that name which she was given

Gloria was her name
and glorious were her days

to remember her is to admire her
in her many joys to share

and even the Winds of Time
cannot blow her beautiful memory away

Peace and Prosperity
the fruit of her hands

and from her womb poetry is born
Brotherhood and Hope
for life you have injected
bloodstreams of love

transfusions from parent to child
from generation to generation

In loving memory of Gloria Luna Salgado (1925-2014)
